Fintech / payment processing
Payment Gateway Service
Lanexas project · client under NDA
A payment platform unifying online payments, subscriptions, refunds, and multiple providers behind one service. The engineering challenge was to keep transaction states and business workflows consistent while allowing providers to evolve independently.
Engagement facts
- Role
- CTO / Technical Lead
- Team
- 6-person cross-functional team
- Duration
- Approximately 9 months
Lanexas contribution
System architecture, technical leadership, delivery planning, code review, and the design of APIs and provider integrations.
Outcome
Released to production with multiple payment providers behind one API. New providers could be introduced without changing the core business logic.
AI involvement
A production fraud-detection and risk-scoring flow evaluated each payment before the transaction decision, while anomaly detection monitored abrupt changes in merchant behaviour.
Delivered AI capabilities
- 01Transaction risk scoring using amount, country and IP, device, payment velocity, operation time, customer and merchant history, decline frequency, and behavioural deviation
- 02Approve, manual-review, or block decisions driven by the model score and explicit policy thresholds
- 03Merchant-level anomaly detection for sudden changes in transaction volume and behaviour
Production path
Go Payment API → Kafka → feature processing → Python fraud model → gRPC risk decision service
What was delivered
- 01Payment-provider adapter layer and unified transaction model
- 02Subscriptions, refunds, webhooks, and idempotent processing
- 03Background workflows, role-based access, and audit trails
